Stand Beside Them, Inc. (www.standbesidethem.org) (SBT) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to coach and empower America’s military veterans, and their spouses/caregivers, to achieve success at home, at work, and in the community. We pursue our mission by providing free coaching services, matching our coachees with certified, experienced, and highly-knowledgeable professional coaches. Whether it is to help find employment, start a new business, complete an education, improve personal relationships, assess for new vocations, or locate health care to fully meet their needs, our coaches are here to help veterans set and achieve their goals. Our intern will have the opportunity to make a large impact, reporting directly to the Executive Director.
Job Description
We are looking for someone with strong writing and communications skills and an interest in development/fundraising who is enthusiastic about working at a national non-profit to help increase our fundraising capabilities. We are seeking an intern who is willing to commit approximately 20 hours a week for 3-4 months.
Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Executive Director to develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising strategy including seasonal campaigns.

Research grant sources and prepare supporting data for grant applications; help with grant writing.

Help with prospect research and communications with donors.

Work with our donor management system on Network for Good; manage the donation function on the website and oversee online fundraisers.

Develop promotional materials to support fundraising activities, including email communications and social posts.
Required skills and experience:

Experience with QuickBooks or QuickBooksOnline to organize donations, expenses, etc.

Experience with Microsoft Office - including proficiency with Excel.

Excellent research, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred skills and experience:

Proficiency with all social media sites - including Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin; Experience with online fundraising a plus.

Interest in military veteran’s issues and/or coaching and nonprofit management.

2 years of college coursework.
Hours per week: 20
Duration: 3-4 months
