As a former Naval Intelligence Officer who transitioned into corporate, she understands firsthand the challenges associated with stepping into and climbing the corporate ladder. She also brings a broad perspective to her coaching, having worked across a diverse array of industries and organizations, including Defense contracting, commercial consulting, startups and large corporations. Her deep corporate and coaching experience is underpinned by an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Political Science from Duke University.

Cathy Carroll

Cathy Carroll is founder and President of Legacy Onward, Inc., a leadership coaching firm specializing in family business leadership. After growing up around her grandfather’s business, Cathy pursued a 20-year corporate career as an actuary at Hewitt Associates and a corporate executive at Sabre Inc., and United Airlines before leaving to run her father’s business. As President & COO of Pro Equine Group, she was responsible for five companies that manufacture and distribute equipment serving the team roping market. After turning the company around, Cathy left to start Legacy Onward, bringing leadership coaching services to family businesses. Cathy earned a leadership coaching certificate at Georgetown University, an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BA at Boston College. Donna Holland Barnes, PhD, PCC is a sociologist specializing in suicide prevention and intervention. She is an Associate Professor at Howard University’s department of psychiatry and teaches medical students on how to manage their suicidal patients. Dr. Barnes is also the founder and CEO of DHB Wellness & Associates, LLC. She is a certified life and executive coach, certified grief counselor and a crisis intervention trainer. The two major assessment tools used are the Super Self, an assessment tool that helps discover self-awareness and the Stress Inventory in which many stressful life events are listed and rated on a scale of 1 – 10. She is interested in coaching veterans in transition and wishes to assist in navigating resources, especially health care availability. She aims at working closely with veterans and “riding” with them until their goals are met.

Catie Hargrove

Jennifer Hanawald
