Program and Operations Intern
 

Part-Time Internship (rolling)

100% Remote

Unpaid; Course credit is possible and VA WORK/STUDY compensation for military veterans studying under GI BILL.

Stand Beside Them, Inc. (www.standbesidethem.org) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to coach and empower America’s military veterans, and their spouses/caregivers, to achieve success at home, at work, and in the community. We pursue our mission by providing free coaching services, matching our coachees with certified, experienced, and highly-knowledgeable professional coaches.  Whether it is to help find employment, start a new business, complete an education, improve personal relationships, assess for new vocations, or locate health care to fully meet their needs, our coaches are here to help veterans set and achieve their goals. Our intern will have the opportunity to make a large impact, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

 

Job Description:

We are looking for someone with good organizational skills and an interest in counseling/coaching who is enthusiastic about working at a national non-profit. We are seeking an intern who is willing to commit approximately 20 hours a week for 3-4 months.

 Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to coordinate coaching assignments and keep track of ongoing coaching collaborations.

  • Coordinate intake of new clients (veterans, spouses, caregivers) including interviews to determine their goals and needs; assist with pairing veterans with the right coach and ensure that current coaching relationships are moving forward.

  • Liaise with state/local coaching organizations to help recruit new coaches and expand SBT to all 50 states. 

  • Help organize special events (online/in-person where possible).

  • Help research and prepare information for grant applications and other program development work.

  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Board as needed.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office - including proficiency with Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Counseling coursework or training, such as active listening and empathetic listening.

  • Proficiency with social media sites - including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

  • Interest in military/veteran’s issues, and/or coaching.

  • 2 years of college coursework
     

Hours per week: 20 

Duration: 3-4 months
