Stand Beside Them at Gracie Mansion for Mayor's Breakfast
We were invited to the annual Mayor’s Reception for Veterans Day hosted by Mayor Bill
DeBlasio and his wife Chirlane McCray. On a beautiful sunny, brisk Sunday morning, our founder and CEO Stephanie Richmond attended with two of the SBT family: Marine veteran/SBT Coach Dr. Kimberly Graham and her SBT coachee Ivan Snook, a Marine veteran currently attending graduate school at Columbia University. Since Kim lives in Pennsylvania and Ivan was living in Seattle before recently moving to NYC to study, all of their prior coaching sessions had been by phone. What a unique place Gracie Mansion was for them to meet in person for the first time!
Another Columbia grad student and Marine vet, Dustin Jones joined our group (center left). Dustin is working on a documentary for the Columbia School of Journalism about transitioning veterans, and Ivan will be part of it. At the Breakfast the Mayor officially launched VetConnectNYC, a platform where NYC veterans, service members and their families can access a network of over 80 public, private and non-profit service providers covering a variety of needs including housing, education, healthcare and employment, and SBT is a participating organization.
Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF) Event
Monday, November 12th was AITAF's (Arts in the Armed Forces) Tenth Anniversary event
where the play True West by Sam Shepard was performed by a stellar cast led by Adam Driver (Marine vet and actor), and Michael Shannon. AITAF brings free high-quality arts programming to active duty service members and veterans around the world. Congratulations to @AITAF on their first decade of service to our heroes and their families! On the way into the theater, our CEO was excited to meet Army Capt. (ret.) Florent Groberg, Medal of Honor recipient.
WeWork and Bunker Labs Veteran Opportunity Fair
Another evening during Veterans Week, SBT participated in a Veterans Opportunity Fair sponsored by WeWork and Bunker Labs, and we networked like crazy. Stephanie was accompanied by SBT’s Coordinator of Coaching Jenna Pulvermiller, and our IT Intern Joanne Han. It was held at the WeWork near Times Square, and we had a chance to tell some wonderful veterans about what we do and how our coaching can help them.

L'OrealUSA's Have a Beautiful Day Event: SBT partnered
We brought some coachees and other wonderful women veterans for a day of pampering at L’OrealUSA’s annual "Have A Beautiful Day" event. It was a fantastic day, starting with breakfast and a warm welcome from L'OrealUSA CEO, Frédéric Rozé. Shining Service and Women Veterans Interactive also copartnered.
SBT Coachee/Veteran Spotlight: Justin Hsu
We’re very proud of Justin Hsu, a Navy veteran and former recipient of SBT coaching, who is Senior VP/Sr. Corporate Security & Resilience Program Manager at Citizens Bank. Justin planned his transition with Connecticut SBT Coach Vivian Ciampi. Justin wants to help others transition successfully and speaks to veteran groups all the time, as does SBT Coach and Navy veteran Fiona Bain. Justin has provided us with a YouTube video testimonial explaining to veterans how SBT coaching helped him. Hope you like it!
